A recent television report by Australia’s national broadcaster, ABC News, has predicted that our irreversible obsession for take away beverages will cause untold environmental damage unless the paper cups they are served in are properly recycled.Every year, Australians use one billion paper cups, of which a large majority end up in landfill sites. In fact, coffee cups are now the fastest growing waste stream and now make up the second largest contributor to litter in Australia, behind plastic bottles.
The issue in the UK is even more pressing given that there are almost three times more paper cups being used each year. The good news, however, is that a solution is at hand and thanks to Simply Cups, paper cups are now being collected and reprocessed from many of the UK’s leading businesses and hospitality outlets.
